Things to do on a Maui Honeymoon

It's official!  Maui, Hawaii made U.S. News 17 Top Honeymoon Destinations list for 2013.  With newlyweds deep love for everything tropical and relaxing, it's no wonder that Maui made the list.  But once you're in Maui, what is there to do other than sit on the beach (as if that wasn't enough).

Below you will find a list of things to do on a Maui honeymoon:

#1: The Road to Hana - If beautiful scenery and a relaxing drive seems fun then taking a drive on the road to Hana is a must.  Overlooking some of the worlds most amazing beaches and rainforests makes this entire day trip incomparable to any other.

The Road to Hana

#2: The Red Sand Beach in Kaihalulu - Yes, red sand.  The sand is made up of eroded volcanic cinder and is truly breathtaking.  Don't forget to back good shoes though because it's a 10 minute walk down a steep, slippery trail.

#3: Eat Mahi Mahi Burgers - If you love white fish then you'll love these burgers. They're served everywhere but one of the best spots to get one is at the Pa'ia Fish Market.

#4: Molokini Snorkel Tour - Molokini is a volcanic crater located about two miles from South Maui.  Molokini is an amazing snorkel spot but only those who have permits are able to take you.  No worries, there are several, local guides with permits.  If you want to see a plethora of beautiful marine life then we highly recommend a snorkel tour.

#5:  Paddle board - Paddle boarding is one of the sports perfect for someone who wants to surf but can't stand up long on their own.  Using a paddle will help!  Don't worry, it won't look like you can't surf because paddle boarding is all the rave right now in Maui.  Many local, on beach shops rent paddle boards along with lessons.  It's a great day on the water and fun adventure.

Honeymoons Even More Popular

The number of couples taking a honeymoon has increased in 2012, according to the Real Weddings Study. The annual survey of brides, conducted by TheKnot.com and WeddingChannel.com, showed that more than three-quarters of couples took a honeymoon.

As the economy has begun to improve, more couples are going back to this important wedding tradition. Taking time away together as a newly married couple is a way for you to bond, enjoy your new marriage, and have a bit of relaxation after the stress of wedding planning.

Another way that couples have been able to afford to take a honeymoon is through the use of a honeymoon  registry. These are perfect for couples who don't need or want the traditional wedding gifts like toasters and sets of china. Instead, your guests contribute to your honeymoon costs. Of course, one of the great things about a honeymoon -- and a honeymoon registry -- is that you get to visit an amazing destination. Go Glamping!

If you and your fiancé love the great outdoors, but want something a bit more special for your honeymoon, glamping is the perfect choice. Glamping, the nickname given to glamorous camping, is a big trend, with locations available around the world.

Most glamping locations include everything you love about camping. You’ll be outdoors, surrounded by nature in some amazing places. You’ll be able to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and celebrate your marriage with complete peace. Of course, you’ll also have some luxury touches.

Rather than popping a small tent and climbing into sleeping bags, you’ll have a big tent with a bed. Most glamping locations will also include the added bonus of private bathrooms. Glamping combines the best of camping with the best of a hotel stay for an unforgettable experience.

If you’re interested in planning your own glamping honeymoon, get in touch with us today for more details about all the great sites around the world.

How to choose your honeymoon

When it comes to choosing their honeymoon destination most couples have never been to the resort before. That's understandable as they want somewhere fresh and new to both of them. But it can also be quite a gamble too unless they've researched well. So what sort of things should you consider when choosing a honeymoon destination?
  • Price. This is probably number one. Weddings can be so expensive and the honeymoon is no exception. Don't go for something that's going to bankrupt you but at the same time don't scrimp and save on this special holiday - your first away together as man and wife.
  • Location. Sure you'll be looking for a secluded spot but don't make it somewhere like the Amazon Rainforest (unless you're both geologists, zoologists or botanists). You'll want to spend time together but it's nice to get the stimulation other human beings can provide too.
  • Food. Always check this beforehand, especially if you're heading off somewhere exotic. No-one wants to suffer any allergies on their honeymoon!

Honeymoon in Romantic Paris

It's often cited as one of the top 5 romantic cities in the world and a 'must have' destination in terms of honeymoons. But what is it about Paris that gives this city its charm as far as lovers are concerned?

Food
Even the street food here is of the gourmet variety! Add to that numerous world class restaurants and bistros, not too mention those cute pavement cafes. And what food is it famous for? Chocolate, pastries and coffee. Yum.

Accommodation
You could wind up in the grand Windsor Home in the 16th arrondissement near the Eiffel tower or a smaller boutique hotel  just off the Champs Elysees.

Art
The Musee du Louvre, Musee d’Orsay and the Rodin Museum and all must-visits and where you'll find Picasso, Monet and Van Gogh amongst others.

Romance
The Pont-Marie is known locally as the ‘bridge of lovers' and couples regularly drift underneath it in one of the many river cruisers. Another bridge in the city – the Pont des Arts – is thought to have one of the most romantic views in the world.

Add An Italian Flavor To Your Honeymoon

We're all familiar with the romantic nature of Italian cities. The ancient architecture of imperialist history of Rome, the beautiful canals of Venice and the beautifully-lit street cafes of Florence all evoke certain idyllic notions and ones which surely we should all get to appreciate in a lifetime.

So on that note, if you're planning a honeymoon there are far, far worse places to go than beautiful Italy!

But what else do you need to know about this Latin and hot-blooded land?
  • The weather. If you're planning a summer honeymoon then it's going to be hot. Very hot. May, June and September are actually the most comfortable months weather-wise.
  • Travel. Italy has an excellent public sector railway which is very economical and efficient. If you don't fancy that you could always hire a car and which would probably work out a little cheaper.
  • If you fancied having the whole wedding across there then there are certainly plenty of gorgeous restaurants willing to cater for you. It's not as simple as just arriving and deciding to get married though. It's worth checking with the Italian consulate as you'll need to give at least three months notice of your intentions, if not longer.
And the best bit - choosing the location? Well, you're spoiled for choice really. A Tuscan farmhouse, trendy city hotel in Rome or a 16th century flat overlooking the canals in Venice.
Here at the Honeymoon Registry  we've already decided...
