The Wine Lover’s Californian Honeymoon

If the thought of traveling overseas after a hectic wedding just tires you out, there are plenty of great honeymoon destinations nearer to home.  Any couple who collects wine or just likes drinking it may want to consider a honeymoon in California’s wine country.

The two wine regions are Napa Valley and Sonoma County, both of which can offer you a relaxed and romantic getaway.  Napa Valley has six towns – Napa, St Helena, Oakville, Calistoga, Rutherford and Yountville – and can offer an astounding array of resorts, spas, restaurants and wine producers as well as stunning scenery.

Sonoma Valley is nestled between two mountain ranges and boasts dozens of wine producers.  The area also has hot springs, which is popular with visitors, and top-notch resorts and spas.

Many of the wine producers offer tours, although the smaller of them may require an appointment.  However, as these are the most intimate, it’s worth making the call.  Just think of toasting your nuptials, surrounded by vineyards, in the Californian sunshine before retreating in the evening to sumptuous cuisine and first class hotel facilities.
